N|R: 36 Metro Mass busses and refilling tank contained diesel saved from fire destruction in Tamale
Firefighters from the Northern Headquarters of the Ghana National Fire Service(GNFS) have saved a total of 36 busses and a refilling tank containing diesel belonging to the Lamashegu Metro Mass Transport from the destruction of fire.
On interviewing the Regional PRO of the GNFS, ADOII Hudu Baba, indicated that the incident occurred on Sunday 1st January 2023 when a call came in around 1016hrs reporting the outbreak of fire at the Lamashegu Metro Mass Station.
He said firemen from the Regional Headquarters substation were quickly dispatched to the scene.
According to him,on arrival of the firefighters(GNFS)at the scene, they realized two buses were already on flames which could spread to other stationed busses and a refilling tank containing diesel.
“The tactical firefighters quickly approached the raging fire defensively and brought the fire under control at 1036hrs and eventually extinguished it at 1104hrs.
He also revealed that their preliminary investigation has shown that the fire was caused by a bushfire that spread into the yard and cause the havoc.
The buses with the registration numbers GR-6350 and AW-483-4 were totally and partially burnt respectively whilst 36 buses out of the 38 buses and a refilling tank containing diesel were salvaged from the fire spreading to them.
